Since its launch by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai, the ‘Here to Help’ initiative has achieved remarkable results in terms of simplifying the renewal of driving licences and vehicle ownership, by improving service delivery channels and service booths through insurance companies and eye testing centres (trusted agents), where the number of entities coordinating with the RTA has grown from only 17 centres in Dubai to as many as 511 centres throughout the UAE.
Sultan Al Marzouqi, Director of Drivers Licensing, RTA Licensing Agency, said: “The ‘Here to Help’ initiative is a pioneering initiative in providing world-class public licensing services through our trusted agents. Through this initiative, we are keen on increasing the number of service delivery channels from a single source (RTA head office) to a variety of channels, including the RTA website, call centre, smart apps, smart kiosks and traffic departments all over the UAE. “We have also increased the number of insurance companies and eyesight testing centres to 511 centres in order to save time and effort of our customers interested in renewing their driving licences and vehicle ownerships by streamlining and processing transactions and procedures in simple steps and in less time. This has resulted in reducing traffic congestion and exhaust pipe emissions which would have otherwise been associated with customers’ movement to complete such transactions, besides cutting the service delivery time from 10 minutes to about three minutes and reducing customers’ waiting time from 20 minutes to about seven minutes,” he added.
“The UAE is the first country worldwide in renewing vehicle ownerships and driving licences through smartphones as certified by the International Commission for Driver Testing (CIECA); an entity concerned with the affairs of motorists and which has 35 member countries, and the International Motor Vehicle Inspection (CITA); an entity concerned with vehicle affairs, with has 53 member countries. This means that our efforts in this regard have received international acclaim and created a pioneer standing thanks to the paramount attention accorded to all aspects of customers service.
“Customer satisfaction represents the third RTA goal of ‘bringing happiness to people.’ The RTA’s efforts in this regard have yielded fruitful results and placed the UAE alongside Korea and Sweden in the online uploading of eyesight testing results, and among the world’s top five countries in the online renewal of driving licences. Moreover, the UAE has carved out a niche for itself in adopting the best practices in the renewal of vehicle ownership, alongside Ireland and Korea,” added Al Marzouqi.
